What are the STRENGTH characteristics of FILIPINOS?

What are the Strengths of the Filipinos?

According to the study. these are the some common Strengths of the Filipino Character:

1. Pakikipagkapwa-tao. is demonstrated in the Filipinos' ability to empathize with the others in helping and being generous in time of needs as in pakikiramay; in extending mutual assistance as in bayanihan; and being hospitable not only to fellow Filipinos but especially to the foreigners by giving the best room or food.

As Filipinos, we are open to others, feel one with others, regard others with dignity, and respect them as fellow human beings.

Because of pakikipagkapwa-tao, Filipinos develop that sensitivity to the quality of smooth interpersonal relationship. If our relationship with others is satisfactory, we are secure and happy. Filipinos too, develop that closeness to one another.

2. Family Oriented. What is very evident in the filipinos is the closely-knit families that demonstrate their deep love for every memeber such as the spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandparents and other relatives. One's family is the source of personal identity, emotional and material support, and one's main commitment and responsibility.

Genuine concern for the family is manifested in the honor and respect given to the parents and elders, in the support and care extended to children and in the great sacrifices one endures for the welfare of the family. Filipinos, in general, do take care of their aging parents at home.

This family orientation makes every member develop a feeling of belongingness and sense of safety and security.

3.Joy and Humor. Being cheerful and fun-loving are some of the strengths of the filipinos in addressing life, like when we are up or down. This pleasant disposition of having a sense of humor such as laughing at ourselves and our mistakes is an important coping mechanism that adds to the filipino charm and keeps our spirit going.

This sense of joy and humor is observed in the Filipinos' love for socials, celebrations, fiestas and in serious public issues injecting political satire. Thus, Filipinos have the strong capacity to survive and are emotionally balanced.

4.Flexibility, Adaptability and Creativity. Very evident in us Filipinos is our great capacity to adjust and to adapt to circumstances and any eventualities that come our way.

We are also creative, imaginative, resourceful and have the ability to improvise and produce something from indigenous or any materials available as a source of income and entrepreneurship. Thus, trait also generates productivity innovations and survival for some.

The Filipino flexibility and adaptability are manifested in our kababayans who are seen in all parts of the world. We can go to any corner of the world and we will always see a Filipino.

5.Hard work and Industry. The Filipinos' desire to improve one's standard of living and to live a decent life matched with proper working conditions and motivations makes them work hard. This trait is very evident in Filipinos who would take the risk to work to abroad taking two to three jobs at a time. Again, the result is entrepreneurship and survival despite poverty for aothers.

6.Faith and Religiosity. Filipinos are pre-dominantly Christians if not Catholics. We have deep faith in God and are religious. These traits are very much seen in our daily life. An example of our deep faith in God is when bad luck comes our way, we easily understand and genuinely accept this reality in the context of God's will and plan.

Religiosity is also observed in daily life among the Filipinos. Before any activity takes place in school or any public gathering, it is always preceeded by prayers. We always thank God for our success and call upon Him for mercy or forgiveness.

Having this faith and bieng religious spell out optimism, courage, inner peace and the willingness to accept tragedy and death.

7. Ability to Survive. Filipinos are survivors and are resilient. We have the great capability to surpass all sad experiences and recover easily from difficult times. This is manifested in the Filipinos who bravely live through the harshest economic, physical, and social circumstances. Example of crises where Filipinos are survivors and surviving are the Mt. Pinatubo disaster, 1990 earthquake, typhoons , Asian financial crisis and many more. It is the prove thatfilipinos are Great Survivors.

Healing a BROKENHEART?

Here are some tips to heal a brokenhearted:

1.It's okay to grieve for a time. Seek support from your friends and family as you come to terms with the changes in your life.

2.Don't look at past relationships as failures, but rather as opportunities to learn and improve your relationship skills.

3.Don't worry that you're not in a relationship. Your value comes from who you are, not who you're with.

4.You don't have to be a recluse just because you aren't a couple. Treat yourself to an evening out doing something you enjoy. Take along a friend if it's not a solo activity.

5.Treat yourself to a special gift now and then. You are a special person and you deserve it.

6.There's more to life than romantic love. Take this opportunity to nurture your friends, family and self.

7.Take some time to reevaluate what you need in a relationship. Have you been choosing partners who are not capable of a loving and mature relationship?

8.Be willing to take another chance on love. Like they say, you can't win if you don't play.

9.Be a friend to yourself. If you care about yourself, the odds are better you will attract those you care about you too.

10.If you're finding it hard to let go of a relationship, you may need to seek counseling. An obsessive need to be with someone who no longer wants a relationship may be a sign of love addiction.

11.Avoid jumping into a rebound relationship. Take some time to work through all the issues from your previous one.

12.Don't try to get revenge. This will only slow your progress in healing from the hurt.

13.Forgive yourself. You can't change the past, but you can learn from your mistakes and not repeat them.

14.Forgive your partner. This doesn't mean that you are saying what happened is okay. What it means is cutting your losses and not investing any more time in something that hurts you.

Tips(activities)
1.Church groups, volunteer activities, and university lectures are just a few ideas for meeting new people in a safe environment.

2.Get a makeover, join a gym or start a diet. As you improve your health and appearance your self-esteem will rise.

3.Repeating daily affirmations can help you to regain confidence in yourself.

Coping with Depression

Everybody gets the blues now and then. Those feelings can be especially strong during times of stress or loss. That's a normal part of life. After a while, the darkness lifts and things start to feel enjoyable again.

Sometimes, however, the sadness or loneliness persists, or gets worse, despite all attempts to "snap out of it." Tears or anger come easily and the simplest tasks seem difficult.

Such feelings can be signs of clinical depression, which is the most commonly diagnosed psychiatric disorder among teens and adults. Left untreated, it can lead to serious behavioral, emotional and physical problems -- even suicide. Fortunately, there are very effective ways to treat clinical depression through a combination of therapies, medications and support groups.

If you or someone you know has been battling any of the signs and symptoms of depression listed below, it is very important to get help. Talk to someone who cares -- your parents, school counselor or psychologist, or family physician.

Signs and Symptoms of Depression

1.A persistently sad mood
2.Feeling hopeless, helpless or worthless
3.Increased anger, fighting and self-destructive behavior
4.Loss of interest in normal activities
5.Social withdrawal
6.Sleep or appetite disturbance
7.Excessive or uncontrollable crying
8.Difficulty concentrating and making decisions
9.Preoccupation with thoughts of death
10.Drop in scholastic or academic performance

Coping with Mood Swings

People experience mood swings for a variety of reasons. Women may sense their moods changing prior to or during menstrual cycles or menopause. Men and women deal with mood swings because of seasonal depression – not to mention any and all types of depression – and life situations, like career and family, which cause a certain amount of upset to one’s daily life. Moods also correspond with general health conditions.

While the reasons for mood swings can vary greatly, there are ways to manage them. Certainly, if they become severe, a prescription for an anti-depressant or other medication – or possibly hormone therapy replacement for women – from a health professional may be in order. However, there are natural remedies for many who experience the ups and downs of life on a less severe level.

Along the line of vitamins that can be beneficial for mood swings, there are several that are becoming quite popular and can typically be found in any nutritional section of a grocery or any health food store.

The most common vitamin used to combat mood irregularities is C, though calcium can also be helpful. A close second is the B-complex vitamin, as many of those ingredients are destroyed in the body by caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and refined sugars. Other supplements that are often taken to lessen mood swings are magnesium, zinc, iron, and potassium. And manganese is often taken in conjunction with B-complex and C vitamins to ensure proper stabilization.

Lesser known supplements that have also been found advantageous in the treatment of minor to moderate mood swings are vitex (200-500 milligrams twice daily recommended) and chasteberry (5-15 drops of the liquid mixed with three ounces of water three times daily).

Mood swings can also be challenged in more natural ways without the help of vitamins and supplements, or even in combination with them to ease various symptoms.

Exercise is the most common remedy, especially aerobic exercise as it releases serotonin and endorphins that positively affect moods. Even a 30-minute walk each day can significantly increase mental and emotional health. Yoga is also highly recommended for relaxation and balance.

Incorporating a healthier diet into one’s daily regimen can be helpful, namely the elimination of refined sugars and yeast-producing foods like baked desserts. Milk and wheat products can also cause allergies that are difficult to detect but can affect a person’s moods. And adding healthy juices to the diet, such as carrot juice, can be beneficial by stabilizing sugar in the body and minimizing mood swings.

Baths can be tremendously relaxing. By incorporating lavender and/or chamomile additives for relaxation or bergamot for depression, to water that is just slightly cooler than body temperature, moods swings can be eased through a simple bath of 20-30 minutes.

Since mood swings can be caused by numerous physical, social, and mental sources, it is always wise to consult a nutritionist or health professional that can examine physical health and recommend the best course of action. Whether it is a supplement, change in daily routine, or combination of several remedies, mood swings can usually be managed in a way that can be easily incorporated into everyday life.

Coping With Stress

Stress is defined as any change that you must adapt to in our ever changing world. In particular, stress is any demand (force, pressure, strain) placed on the body and the body’s reaction to it. Stress is experienced by everyone who is living, working, and breathing at this very moment. It is a fact of life you cannot avoid. Stress, itself, ranges in intensity from the negative extreme of being in physical danger to the joy of completing a desired goal. All stress is not bad. It is important to identify how you respond to stressful events. This will determine the impact that these experiences have on your life.
Generally, how can we cope with this stress....
Many studies are made BUT to me, this is the easiest ways on how to COPE stress;
1. Avoid Stressors: I know that it is very difficult to do but the thing is, it is the best way to get rid off this stress. Eventhough you are in work you can avoid this stress. For example, do some quality time to yourself like enjoying your work as is or don't get mad in failures because failures can made you stronger as an individual.
2. Do RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES: To all of my patients, it really works. Because you're all muscles are relax and specially your mind set is clear.
3. Take Medicine. In the market, there are lots of medicine for stress. But be careful because to much is BAD. or else go to your doctor to have a check-up, if that is really a big problem.
4. Just RELAX and feel HAPPY. For all of your problems, you just need to be happy for you to become relax. Just start your day thinking positively. Just SMILE.
5. CALM DOWN. Maybe you are stress because you are acting to much. Just calm down and set your mind positively.
